New Features and Scheduled Release
Dates
Benchmark for Windows
Current Release 8.2.2
Release 1 Features
The first release of
Benchmark for Windows will have the classic Boundary Traverse
program running in a new User Interface with superior editing tools
and with commands available both from the command line and via right
click menus.
Coordinate Geometry
would contain all the standard routines including the Street
Intersection and Lot Sizing routines. Again, functionality would be
slicker with the available windows based editing tools; commands
will be available from pull down menus or via the much loved command
line.
Connection to the other
programs would be via point ASCII export and import routines (128-
and 129- ).
The 127- routine (DXF
Export) creates a file that can either be read into any version of
AutoCAD or into the free included VoloView Express viewer.
A session will just keep
working down a giant scrolling page so that any and all data entered
and calculated is accessible for viewing, cutting and pasting into
other documents as needed.
All printing functions
are via the standard Windows interface.
Release 2 Enhancements
In this release we’ll
include more Windows-like file handling routines for copying and
merging Benchmark Job files.
One other feature we
include allows holding all COGO calculations in a batch file for
later use.
Say you discover an
error you made several steps back that would require you to re-enter
all the information from that point on; with this feature you could
just correct the error you made and all subsequent data would be
automatically recalculated.
Release 3 Enhancements
In this release we'll include the Field Data Editor for traverse
entry and calculation We'll also connect it to Carlson's data
collector support via Carlson Survey, Survey Desktop, or their
SurvNET Least Squares standalone.
Future Considerations...
Our current plans
involve making tight data connections to Carlson's various survey
solutions as well as Autodesk's Land Desktop. Most users of
Benchmark will want connections to some AutoCAD-centric solution; we
provide both an ASCII point export function as well as a versatile
DXF file transfer routine.
Least
Squares
People often ask us if we plan to include a Least Squares
adjustment routine inside Benchmark. The short answer is no. There
are a number of solid stand-alone Least Squares programs already
available that we can connect to. At the moment we are building an
integration between Benchmark and Carlson's SurvNET rigorous Least
Squares stand alone solution.
We'll provide updated information as we progress on this...
